Holy Crap! What was I thinking???

This is gonna be quick. Because what can I really say? I bit off more than I can chew for certain this time. It all started because I hate my kitchen cabinets. Especially the knobs. But, I like to recycle... so I started thinking of something I could use for interesting new cabinet knobs..... SPOONS! I just bought myself a new set of drill bits and I needed an excuse to use them!! So I took the old knob off and dangit, while pulling it off, I peeled some paint off. Well, being that I was feeling somewhat manic at that moment I figured, screw it, scrape all the paint off and put new paint on. How hard could it be.... HAHAHAHA. I'm a fool, let me tell ya now! Well, after about15 minutes of scraping and getting no-where but a cramp in my arm and about 4 inches of paint off, I decided to take the whole cabinet door off and sand it. Oh thank the Lawd for sanders! Wow. I discovered there was some really pretty wood under about 30 years worth of paint. So I sanded and sanded... and sanded. and finally about an hour later, ONE cabinet door was finished. YAY! I just so happened to have some wood stain left over from when we refinished my living room wood floors. and so I stained it and wow. Beautiful I tell ya! What a project I have gotten myself into, however. I have 10 more cabinet doors left, not to mention, the area surrounding the doors that I will need to refinish. And with over 13 guests coming for thanksgiving... Oh my oh my... Ever get that "Oh shit" feeling in your tummy?? Yeah, thats the one I have.

I'm not a big fan of chemicals by any stretch, but I've done a few projects like that, and for what you are doing there is nothing like chemical paint remover used in a well-ventilated space.

You sound a bit like my wife- she started out to fix a drip in the kitchen faucet one Saturday morning, and when I got back after lunch the entire faucet assembly and sink basin were sitting in pieces in the middle of the floor and she was sawing away at the water pipe with a hacksaw.

It all came out ok, of course, she's a whizz with that sort of thing, but it's just sort of a shock when you walk in...

There are easier questions to answer. I’m a little bit of a brat I guess. I like things my way. I’m bossy, and I don’t mind being so. I do take myself rather seriously… but I am working on that. I have a ridiculous sense of humor…. and I can make myself laugh like a lunatic. Even when no one else gets it. I love people, especially those that love me back. I am extremely loyal to my friends and family. I love to jump on beds. I collect books. All kinds of books, tons of them. Some of them I don’t even intend on reading. I just like them. Ummm.... I'm pretty crazy. I change my mind all the time. I love to make stuff, lots of stuff... useless stuff. And I love to cook and eat. I love my kids and family and husband and all my animals. Bright colors, flowers, warm weather, cuddling, the ocean... especially the smell of it, all those things are great too. And basically, I’m just here to work on my writing skills and talk about my life and new adventures in gardening and raising baby chicks.
