Yummy, in a very non-traditional way.... not to assume I would know. I only learned what kimchi soup was a few years back when my friend, April; whose mother is Korean, introduced me to an amazing array of Korean foods. When I get kimchi soup from the Korean restaurant it usually contains thinly sliced beef strips, tofu, noodles and kimchi. But the fast and really tasty version I made today is basically nothing more than shrimp flavored ramen noodles with kimchi mixed in. And as an all American girl, I give myself the right to call my creation kimchi soup... because well, its got kimchi in it.
I have always enjoyed trying new foods. When I was a small child, I would raid the kitchen for interesting concoctions to whip up. Sometimes purely insane mad scientist experiments would spring from my efforts. Yet other times purely sinful chocolate chip cookies, cakes, and even roasts and chickens and pot pies!
I am still very fond of cooking today... and of course eating. There is something astounding to me about putting together flavors that can instantly quiet a crowd and sooth a gloomy child. Food has power. Food is magic. A cup of warm tea and slice of toast with a light jam is wonderful on a cold morning.
A thick hot chili topped with cooling sour cream and accompanied with fresh baked corn bread drizzled with sweet cream butter can make a bitter winter evening seem robust and inviting.
Like I said, food has magic power... at least over me.

About Me
- Tricia
- There are easier questions to answer. I’m a little bit of a brat I guess. I like things my way. I’m bossy, and I don’t mind being so. I do take myself rather seriously… but I am working on that. I have a ridiculous sense of humor…. and I can make myself laugh like a lunatic. Even when no one else gets it. I love people, especially those that love me back. I am extremely loyal to my friends and family. I love to jump on beds. I collect books. All kinds of books, tons of them. Some of them I don’t even intend on reading. I just like them. Ummm.... I'm pretty crazy. I change my mind all the time. I love to make stuff, lots of stuff... useless stuff. And I love to cook and eat. I love my kids and family and husband and all my animals. Bright colors, flowers, warm weather, cuddling, the ocean... especially the smell of it, all those things are great too. And basically, I’m just here to work on my writing skills and talk about my life and new adventures in gardening and raising baby chicks.

I love that idea for kimchi soup. My wife and I like kimchi, but I'd never thought of mixing it with noodles and making soup out of it!
Nice blog- I came over from Mooog's "Mental Poo".
Something magical happens when you cook for someone. There is a power in joining friends and family for a good meal and great conversation. Yeah Food!!!
